New ventures and cancels cover the last 90 days. Crashes are reportable crashes in the last 12 months. All counts are aggregates; no carrier is identified.
Insurers under watch
Flagged when an insurer cancels at least three times the market rate, or its cancellations accelerate twice as fast as the market. The number beside each name is its book of carriers.
What brokers do with it
The report tells you where the book is moving. The daily list tells you which carrier to call, with the owner's name, phone and email, the insurer, the deadline and a first line written from the filing.
- 5,915 carriers have an urgent signal today.
- 7,855 renewals are inside the quoting window.
- $8570.0M of estimated annual premium is represented by active signals.

How this is calculated
Every number is a count of public filings. Nothing is modelled except the premium sizing estimate.
Pressure rate
Carriers with an urgent signal divided by carriers in that state with a live auto-liability (BIPD) filing on file. Urgent means a pending cancellation, an involuntary suspension for lapsed insurance, a new authority with no insurance, or an authority application that is running out of time. A state needs at least 100 insured carriers to be ranked; smaller states are shown but not ranked.
New ventures and cancellations
A new venture is a carrier whose first liability filing ever became effective in the last 90 days. A cancellation is a filing with a CANCEL status whose effective date falls in the same 90-day window. Both are counts of carriers, not filings.
Where the data comes from
The FMCSA's daily Motus carrier, authority, insurance and insurance-history files, the Company Census File and the Crash File on data.transportation.gov. State is the carrier's physical state in the Census file, falling back to its business state. Haulflare is not affiliated with the FMCSA or the U.S. DOT.
What the premium number is not
It is a sizing estimate (about $11,000 a power unit a year, adjusted for new ventures, lapses, crashes and hazmat), summed once per carrier with an active signal. It is not a quote, a bound premium or a promise of commission.
Why the numbers move
Filings arrive through the day, get corrected, and are sometimes replaced. The report is rebuilt from the current database and cached for an hour; the morning sync is the main update. Counts can change without any carrier changing insurer.

Questions
Is this the same as the daily lead list?
No. This page is the aggregate: how many carriers in each state are under pressure, and why. The daily list names the specific carriers, with owner contact details, insurer and deadline. The free plan sends the top 3 in one state every morning.
Can I republish the table or a chart?
Yes, with attribution to Haulflare and a link to this page. The CSV and JSON are there so you do not have to retype anything. For a comment or an interview, use the contact address on the home page.
How often does it update?
Every morning after the FMCSA publishes, and the page is cached for an hour. The date under the headline is the as-of date for every number on the page.
